FlowGrow modular film greenhouses

Commercial greenhouse control with an adaptable film envelope.

FlowGrow is the film-covered counterpart to GrowPro: modular, crop-driven and scalable, with a lower structural entry point and strong suitability for warm, high-radiation and selected seismic regions.

The FlowGrow proposition

Use film as an engineered climate component—not as a lower-quality substitute for glass.

FlowGrow is designed for commercial food production where investment discipline, rapid modular deployment and climate responsiveness are central. The family ranges from robust protected cultivation to large computer-controlled hydroponic facilities.

The correct film greenhouse is more than arches and plastic. Greenhouse height, span, air volume, vent area, insect net resistance, film properties, screen strategy and crop layout determine whether heat and humidity can leave the crop zone. Water, fertigation, cooling and automation must be designed as part of the same system.

Single film can suit a simple, naturally ventilated project. Double inflated film adds insulation and envelope stability. Diffuse, thermal and anti-condensation properties are selected by climate and crop. Cover replacement is planned as an operating event, with safe access and a defined lifecycle budget.

Three investment levels

Start at the level the operation can support.

The difference is not only size. Each step increases crop capability, climate control, water management, automation and organisational responsibility.

01

Core concept

  • Galvanized multi-span film greenhouse
  • Single crop-appropriate film covering
  • Natural side and/or roof ventilation
  • Insect protection where pest pressure requires it
  • Drip irrigation with practical control and filtration

Configured when required

  • Diffuse, thermal or anti-condensation film
  • Shade screen
  • Simple fertigation
  • Rainwater collection
  • Small technical and handling building
02

Technical architecture

A greenhouse is the integration of structure, crop and operation.

01

Structure

Galvanized arched, multi-span or widespan geometry is selected for the crop, climate, construction method and local design loads.

02

Film envelope

Single, double inflated, diffuse, thermal and anti-condensation film properties are evaluated against light, heat, humidity and replacement life.

03

Ventilation

Roof, side and gable openings, insect netting and internal circulation are sized together; net pressure loss cannot be ignored.

04

Climate options

Screens, fogging, evaporative cooling, heating, air movement and dehumidification are combined only after climate analysis.

05

Water system

Storage, filtration, dosing, crop distribution, monitoring, collection and reuse form one measured water balance.

06

Crop system

Ground beds, substrate, gutters, benches, hydroponics and high-wire support are matched to labour, market and crop strategy.

07

Control

Automation develops from irrigation and vent control to integrated climate, alarms, remote access, crop data and energy management.

08

Lifecycle

Film inspection and replacement, drive maintenance, net cleaning, water hygiene and spare-part planning are included in operating preparation.

What standardisation means

Defined building blocks. No false certainty.

GrowPro and FlowGrow establish a repeatable technical and commercial framework. Final dimensions, structural loads, ventilation capacity, cooling, heating, water treatment and crop equipment are engineered for the project location.

  • Vent area is calculated after allowing for insect-net resistance.
  • High crop support and hanging loads require a purpose-engineered structure.
  • Film specification includes light, diffusion, thermal, condensation and UV criteria.
  • Cooling choice depends on outside humidity, water quality and water availability.
  • A lower envelope investment does not remove the need for professional operation and maintenance.

FlowGrow is DutchAgriTech’s own product framework. Its technical logic reflects established international poly-greenhouse practice while every final package remains independently engineered for the project.

System questions

Direct answers before project qualification.

Is FlowGrow a tunnel greenhouse?

FlowGrow is a modular commercial film-greenhouse family. Depending on level and project, it may use multi-span arched or widespan geometry with professional ventilation, crop support, irrigation and climate systems.

When is double inflated film appropriate?

Double film can improve insulation and envelope stability, but the choice depends on climate, crop, light requirement, energy strategy and lifecycle cost.

Can FlowGrow support hydroponic vine crops?

Yes. Expert and Plus can be configured for supported tomato, cucumber, pepper, aubergine and melon crops with fertigation, drain monitoring and crop support.

How often must the film be replaced?

Replacement life depends on film specification, UV exposure, climate, installation and maintenance. The feasibility and operating plan should include inspection, safe replacement and lifecycle cost rather than assume one universal lifespan.

From model to project

Confirm crop, climate, water, market and operating team before fixing the package.
