Tomato can fit several FlowGrow and GrowPro routes, but variety, heat load, humidity, season length, crop-support system, labour capability and target grade change the appropriate design.

Start with the market objective

Define the tomato product before selecting the greenhouse: loose, truss, cherry and specialty types have different variety, crop-work, packing and buyer requirements. Map the intended harvest by week against realistic grades and prices. A yearly average can hide the exact oversupply period in which the project loses margin.

Define the complete crop system

The production concept must connect propagation and plant arrival, root-zone choice, trellising, pollination, pruning, harvesting and pack-out. Water analysis guides treatment and fertilizer strategy; drainage and sanitation protect the root zone. Climate capacity must be judged during the hardest temperature and humidity periods, not only under annual averages.

Protect operating continuity

Tomato is a management-intensive crop. The operating plan needs trained crop workers, scouting, hygiene zones, input records, maintenance cover and a response for irrigation, fertigation or climate failure. Packing capacity, rejected fruit and transport time belong in the saleable-kilogram calculation from the start.
