A commercial greenhouse is not a roof purchased in isolation. The correct model is the one that can support the intended marketable crop under local conditions and can still be operated after the installation team leaves.

Film or glass greenhouse?

Let the production constraint decide.

Film and glass are covering choices inside a larger production decision. Film-covered greenhouses can be appropriate where the crop benefits mainly from rain protection, insect exclusion, ventilation and disciplined irrigation. A glasshouse becomes relevant when the market, climate and operating team can use its durability and additional control. Neither covering compensates for weak water, unsuitable plant material, missing crop supervision or an undefined buyer.

Begin with the harvest window and grade the buyer will accept. Then test temperature and humidity extremes, solar radiation, rainfall, wind and the difference between day and night. Water quantity and quality determine whether irrigation, treatment, storage, drainage and recirculation can support the crop. Only after those questions should the team compare structure, covering, ventilation, screens, heating, cooling or automation.

Buyer, crop, grade, pack, harvest period and realistic rejection risk.
2. Test the site
Climate, water analysis, land, access, power, drainage and structural loads.
3. Design the operation
Crop calendar, labour, hygiene, maintenance, supervision and post-harvest flow.
